Open Positions

 

Geotechnical Engineering Manager and Drilling Manager

Looking for a licensed Professional Engineer with 6-10 years’ experience to oversee all aspects of geotechnical operations. Ensure that all engineering is completed in a timely manner, clients are taken care of, department culture is excellent, growth goals are met, and profitability numbers are reached. Be a resource for the CMT (lab and field) group to ask questions and ensure the technical quality remains high.

SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE – This Role:

Geotechnical Engineering Manager

Oversee all Legacy geotechnical operations

· Teach/mentor younger engineers in writing reports, completing jobs, performing work, obtaining work, and other miscellaneous jobs. Ensuring that younger and/or less experienced engineers are learning how to run jobs from start to finish (not just doing specific tasks for jobs).

· Model Legacy leadership ideals (see separate document: servant leadership, Building Better, etc.) to the geotechnical department and ensure the entire department understands and is growing in those ideals.

· Ensure all department team members know and understand the why behind company wide and department specific goals.

· Prepare and execute the department annual business plan.

· Work with Legacy salesperson to be a resource for additional growth.

· Work with CMT sales lead to make sure they know which jobs need to be bid for CMT phase.

· Ensure all proposals and important client contacts are entered in CRM and interface with other departments to ensure clients are given the excellent service.

· Be involved with at least two work related organizations – one technical & one professional

· Responsible for preparation or oversight of proposals and cost estimates.

· Manage and oversee the setup of all jobs with all correct information, scheduling of field work, and scope of work.

· Ensure all clients have filled out a client setup sheet prior to drilling to properly bill and have correct points of contact

· Communicate early enough with drilling subcontractor to ensure jobs are not unnecessarily delayed

· Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are written and maintained for all CMT and Geotech work areas

· Review soil samples, assign lab tests, review lab tests, and make sure prescribed field work is complete.

· Responsible for preparation or oversight of all reports and included boring logs, plans, and data. Ensure all reports are completed and delivered by deadline.

· Complete or review projects to assure that all billable items and expenses are included so that A/R can invoice jobs in an accurate and timely fashion.

· Review and track project costs vs. invoices to ensure adequate pricing and margin.

· Work with A/R to track (and potentially avoid working for) collections and clients with negligent payment.

· Track all time spent on things related to clients (jobs, marketing, etc.) so that A/R can reach to ensure time is billed correctly.

· Interact with the drilling manager, drillers and helpers in a way that promotes safe drilling, preventative maintenance, and on-site professionalism.

Drilling Management

Oversee all aspects of Old South Drilling and Operations. Ensure that all drilling is completed in a safe and timely manner, clients are taken care of, and profitability numbers are reached. Ensure rigs are maintained and field downtime is minimized.

· Oversee and manage the drilling operations

· Ensure that drillers and drillers helpers are learning how to drill properly and safely, and to run jobs from start to finish (not just doing specific tasks for jobs),learning how to make their own decisions.

· Set and manage the daily drilling schedule.

· Ensure jobs are completed in a timely manner while providing quality work

· Ensure that personnel get to and from jobs & finish jobs in an efficient and smooth manner

· Ensure that equipment is maintained to maximize uptime and profitability

Ensure that we have the right equipment to complete jobs:

· Now (on the job daily)

· Future (forecasting)

Ensure new drillers have and maintain CDL’s. If a driller doesn’t have a CDL they should get one within the first 3 months.

· Conduct, at minimum, monthly training/safety meetings to allow for clear communication, ensure Old South is improving, and personnel is growing

· Ensure all drillers are learning and you as a leader are implementing servant leadership principles

Thinking before doing:

Taking proper care of equipment:

· Perform both daily and long-term maintenance (logging work done, daily before using), cleanliness (inside and out), no abuse / “sudden” breaks

· Work to ensure that all departmental goals are achieved each year

· Review/ensure folder worksheet and timesheets are completed accurately so office manager can bill & record drilling jobs in an accurate and timely fashion as well as track drilling performance.

Ensure on the folder & timesheets project “costs” are correctly broken down by:

· Drilling costs

· Any additional costs such as standby, difficult drilling, tube samples, additional sampling

· Drilling labor hours

· Setup time (folder setup and locates call-in)

· Billing time by office manager

· Track project costs vs. invoice to ensure adequate pricing and margin.

· Labor Efficiency: Maintain multiplier of 5x of drilling revenue vs drilling labor

· Drilling Chargeability: A crew should bill greater than $1,200 a day on average.

· Project profitability: Cover all expenses and maintain profitability.

· Work with A/R to track to avoid working for clients with negligent payment and if necessary, assist with collections

Technician/Senior Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Provide field and laboratory testing and inspection services as required. Services performed may include (but not limited to) various soils, concrete, asphalt, steel, wood and other materials testing and inspection services. Services may be recorded on paper or directly on a phone or computer. Work schedules vary due to construction schedules, therefore services may be scheduled at any time on any day. Typical locations of services also vary, therefore work may be performed at various sites throughout the areas surrounding the office location. However, some travel may be required to reach distant service areas.

SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE – This Role:

· Perform testing and inspection work as scheduled.

· Complete all paperwork and documentation, digital and physical, for testing and inspection work performed. Turn in digital paperwork before leaving work and physical paperwork before 6AM the following work day.

· Complete daily timesheets listing each work task performed, time required to complete the task and list any other costs or charges incurred. Turn in daily timesheet by 6 AM the following work day.

· Report any discrepancies or problems encountered during the performance of the work task immediately to your supervisor. Document all discrepancies or problems as required.

· Maintain, check and secure all assigned testing equipment.

· Maintain records of all assigned equipment calibrations and required documentation.

· Maintain company assigned vehicle in a safe, clean, working order. Personnel are required to keep up with and perform all vehicle maintenance as required and maintain a written vehicle

maintenance and fuel log book. Periodic vehicle and vehicle log book inspections will be performed at least on a monthly basis by supervisor.

· Solicit work daily from existing clients and from potential clients. Maintain a written log of all contacts and results of contacts. Turn in contact information daily to supervisor for follow-up.

OTHER DUTIES:

· Assist in answering phone calls and scheduling of work tasks as required.

· Perform any laboratory and field testing work that may be required.

· Maintain cleanliness of all inside and outside buildings and property as required.

 

Finance Manager Job Description

Job Overview

Responsible for managing Legacy’s accounting systems and processes. Enable Legacy to excel by providing accurate reporting, identifying areas to improve, and ensuring consistent accounting and operational management. JOB DESCRIPTION:

Learn and perform soil and concrete laboratory testing. Learn from and assist the Geotechnical Engineering and Construction Material Testing department directors. Be involved in the growth of Legacy while learning about the industry, Legacy, and how we operate.

· Schedule daily field and laboratory work and assign personnel to perform the required work

· Ensure each day’s schedule is completed by 5pm the previous business day

· Setup new jobs/clients in folder and LegacyReports – call clients to get information as well as build relationships/be their go to for good service/get to know people.

· Monitor client portals daily.

· Maintain a strong relationship with clients who contact us for work, get to know them well enough that we can provide personable service, keep tabs on their upcoming work, as well have advocates for providing leads for work with other companies.

· Ensure all the previous days’ reports are completed correctly in LegacyReports.

· Reply to tech with explanation if incomplete/wrong

· Approve for signing if complete and correct

· Review daily CMT timesheets for correctness – potential with new accounting system that she could check what should have been done vs what was done
